The brief. A manufacturer was launching a new component, barely 12 cm long, at a trade show. On the stand the real part was easy to miss, and what set it apart, the mechanism inside, couldn't be seen at all. They needed a replica visitors would notice from the aisle, that explained how the product works without a screen, and that would last a full season of shows. The product was still under wraps, so we worked under an NDA.

How we built it. We took the manufacturer's STEP files and scaled them to 5:1. In the 3D model we opened up the housing along a section plane and simplified any internal detail that didn't help tell the story. The housings were printed in PETG on FDM machines and the fine parts of the mechanism in resin. After sanding, priming and lacquering the housings in the brand colours, we painted each internal part a different colour so visitors can tell them apart at a glance. A clear acrylic cover protects the cut face, and the CNC-milled MDF plinth carries the engraved logo.

The result. A 60 cm piece that can be seen from across the hall and lets the sales team explain the product at a glance. It travels in a bespoke transport case, ready to be reused show after show.
